The Inglewood Fire Brigade is mourning the loss of Joe Watts, its longest-serving member, whose death on Saturday, January 17, has marked the end of an era for the brigade and the broader Inglewood community.
Watts dedicated more than 50 years of service to the Inglewood Fire Brigade, a commitment that reflected a lifetime of service, professionalism, and loyalty. Over the decades, he served in numerous roles, including Lieutenant, Apparatus Officer, Chief Tanker Driver, and a behind-the-scenes contributor responsible for compiling and maintaining vital fire reports that supported the brigade’s operations.
Colleagues say Watts was known not only for his experience on the fireground but also for his quiet leadership and reliability. His institutional knowledge and willingness to step in wherever needed made him a cornerstone of the brigade and a mentor to generations of firefighters.
